  • Busy, busy...

With only five weeks left of this quarter, this is the time of the year when it's go, go, go time. This is when you start to live for school a bit more than you'd like, but there are so many things going on & it makes the time go (even) faster.

I'm also three days in with my student teacher who will be with me until the end of May. She's very nice & compatible to what we do in the class-room. I am excited to see what we accomplish together...

Baby is very busy, and strong. Always moving through the day, and a lot at night too! Getting excited to meet our child- only one week left of our month seven!

If you've not checked out Cory's poetry yet...

  • Baby was so busy on Friday that its heart-beat went from 130...160...153...143... We finally decided on 143 as the final one. I asked if we should worry, and Dr. said it was just busy, busy. We also now have a pediatrician. I had two meet & greets on Friday, and really bonded with one. She coincides with a lot of our beliefs and is very flexible in her practice, although extremely knowledgeable (over 18 years of practicing) too.

Cory is having a great time in Costa Rica. We have begun the habit of watching "60 Minutes" on Sundays, and joke about establishing habits for when we're much older. I find myself watching it now without him. He'd be proud of my keeping up with current events (not usually a great interest of mine).

A low-key weekend. I am fighting a sore throat and have been sleeping a lot trying to prevent it from digressing into something worse. I had ideas of things to complete and finish and do. A clean house was accomplished, a little writing in the baby journal, some great time with friends, and that is all. I hope to begin working on the yard more next weekend. There are some flower-beds to install, and some garden boxes to build as well as fill with dirt to get ready for planting soon.

Thought for the week... I've been reading through Romans in the morning and read the following last week: "because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Romans 5:3-4) And have been really thinking about this. For a time, I always considered hope something you either had or didn't, but never thought of it as something that developed, much less something we should be attentive to developing. And I find it interesting that it's linked to developing character. So I've been thinking a lot about this passage this week.

  • I enjoy being pregnant. I like that I am finally getting to the point where it seems to make people happy. I also like that people are starting to be more comfortable asking about it, although some people still don't notice it at first. I feel like it will shortly go from budding to taking the world by storm. The creature inside is ever-moving, busy, and strong. Our next appointment is this Friday, during which I'll have my glucose test. Here's to passing it the first time!

Also on Friday Cory will leave for Costa Rica for a week. The seniors are preparing to go to Costa Rica for their annual service trip, and Cory's been helping with the fund-raising. This will be the third (I think) Senior class to make the trip. Anyways, the male chaperon who was lined up to go had to back up and they asked him tonight at the Costa Rica fund-raising dinner that we just got home from if he'd like to go. He is super excited and the timing works out great. He'll leave this Friday for a week, and him being gone a week works out much better now than, say, early July.

This is baby's first concert, Wilco, which we saw in Bloomington on Thursday night.

Then we were able to hang out with Kara & John in the beautiful spring of Bloomington.

And then we had a wedding on Saturday, whose reception was at the State Museum. We had a really nice time, especially the dancing.
